Meet #TeamAlice Member Meadbh

Tell us a little bit about the student / career path that brought you to Alice?

Hi, I’m Meadbh, I’m 23 years old and from Newbridge, Kildare. I studied Film and Digital Media in NUIG. During my studies I did a 6 month internship in a publishing company in Galway. My favourite task was to run the company’s social media. I was given creative control to try different techniques and used my background in digital media to create fun and engaging images, videos and graphics.

This internship showed me how much I really enjoyed creating product photography and creating engaging TikToks. This internship really was a blessing as I did it during the pandemic and it was a great way for me to connect to the outside world.

What motivated you to join Alice?

The internship with the publishing company sparked my interest in PR and I decided to pursue opportunities in that field. I was told about Alice Public Relations through a family friend and was thrilled about what I found about the organisation.

I was drawn to all the amazing social advocacy work, particularly to Alice’s work during the Repeal the 8th campaign. The Repeal Referendum was the first time I was eligible to vote and it was a cause I passionately cared about. Alice’s impact on social activism made me determined to join and be a part of their work.

Are there causes or campaigns which you’re particularly passionate about / excited to work on?

Since joining Team Alice I have been particularly interested in the health care campaigns we’ve been working on. Especially the Rare Diseases Ireland’s campaign ‘Get Rare Aware’. I loved being a part of the Monday afternoon online briefing events and hearing the patient representatives’ stories.

Stop Food Waste another campaign I am really passionate about! I’ve learned a lot working with this client and have become aware of the ways to be mindful about food waste such as how to store food. It’s also helped me reduce my food bill which is a nice bonus.

What has your first few months at Alice been like?

My experience at Alice has been incredibly positive, mainly because of its incredible company culture, supportive team, and engaging Ask the Expert learning sessions. Team Alice made me feel welcome from day one. The collaborative and team-oriented approach ensures that everyone's opinions are heard and valued.

The Ask the Expert sessions have been a source of continuous learning and personal growth, I always leave them with a new outlook and a growing reading list. These sessions also give the staff an opportunity to connect and grow as a team. I am grateful to be part of a company that prioritises both professional and personal development.

What do you get up to in your own time?

If you couldn’t have guessed from the degree I studied, I very much enjoy films and try to explore every genre. I really enjoy travelling, growing up with my dad in the army I got to travel to different countries and explore different cultures. Having recently moved up to Dublin, in my spare time, I love venturing out with friends to discover new restaurants and pubs. To counteract the overconsumption of food I try to go running 3 times a week. This year I ran the VHI women’s mini marathon.

On the weekends, I enjoy spending time with my four siblings at home and the most important person in our family, our dog Jessie. As a proud dog person, I really enjoy taking my dog Jessie for walks, particularly on the Curragh plains. I love witnessing Jessie's excitement and boundless energy as we roam freely around the Curragh usually only stopping to take a million photos of her.
